As an independent family travel specialist Krystie founded Adventure Awaits to bridge a common gap in the travel industry: helping parents explore beyond generic, all-inclusive beach packages without sacrificing safety, comfort, or sanity.
Holding a degree in Wildlife Conservation and working within the environmental charity sector, Krystie combines genuine scientific understanding with the lived realities of parenting two young children. Adventure Awaits was created to design meaningful, nature-led journeys where families can discover wildlife, ancient landscapes, and vibrant cultures together—all planned with realistic pacing and complete financial protection.
My Journey
How Motherhood Changed the Way I Travel
As a lifelong adventure traveller, I was always drawn to wild places and wildlife in their natural habitats. But like many parents, having children brought that sudden sinking feeling that adventurous travel had to stop. Early parenting exhaustion, long transit days, and rigid itineraries made ambitious trips feel completely out of reach.
Expecting my second child shifted my perspective entirely: exploring the world does not have to end when you have children—you just have to adapt how you do it.
Testing this approach with my own family, I took my young daughter to Greece. Based at a welcoming family hotel near protected turtle-nesting beaches, we walked coastal trails at her pace and took ethical boat trips to observe marine life in the wild. That journey proved that with multi-night bases, sensible travel times, and built-in rest, wild places become completely accessible to families of all ages.
